Tim Beynon is a weight loss coach from the UK. He is the author of Weight Loss Revolution. On Saturday Jan 30, 2010 I spoke to Tim who was in the UK via Skype. (Skype is a free internet phone service)
Tim discusses the 7 steps and 3 cores to his Weight Loss Revolution. Two of the cores are quite familiar. One deals with what we eat and drink. The second with movement, strength and flexibility. The third deals with the psychological issues around weight gain and removing the road blocks to success. Tim and I agree that when starting on something completely new or worse something where we have a history of repeated failure – like weight loss (losing is easy, everyone can, but keeping it off is hard and few succeed long term) then having a guide/coach is very important.
Listen to this interview, down load Tim’s book, take him up on his offer of a free coaching session. Let us know how we can be of help. One way is for you to participate in the monthly coaching calls and to submit questions for Anne’s monthly call. Check the blog post called “monthly calls”.
Tim Beynon is a weight loss coach from the UK. So what! you might say. How does that help me, I don’t live in the UK. Well, you don’t have too. Tim wants you to have his e-Book Weight Loss Revolution . He wants to give you a free 20 minute coaching session which will be offered when you receive the email with the download link to his book. He wants you to know more about him and his philosophy so he allowed me to interview him via Skype. If you don’t know Skype, you need to click the link and go there now to download the free software.
Here are a few things that Tim said in the interview.
B is Bruce , T is Tim
B: Why Tim Beynon as my coach?
T:I have watched people try to lose weight through diets? …. I have spoken to a lot of people and every client that comes to me has been on at least a dozen of them. … I believe the one missing factor … is on going coaching. I’ve used coaches through the last 10-15 years of my life through martial arts … but more importantly through life coaching and business coaching and that sort of thing … and I am a huge believer in the value of a coach. They help to guide you, motivate you, inspire you and help you clear roadblocks out of the way. They just keep you on track. I do love what I do and really value it.
B: At the advanced levels of any kind of learning there is always somebody there … not always called a coach … you might call them your advisor or chairman or in my case experts in a specific field (of medicine). In my occupation I am required to consult with these experts (continuing medical education) and to document I have done so … to keep my license in medicine. It only makes sense we would do that in our personal lives. …in the health system here our health care practitioners are…sick-care practitioners. You need someone who specializes in health to be healthy.
T: I could’t agree more. I love the medical profession….but the medical profession is focused on disease… the other end of the scale. Doctors have to focus on diagnosing disease … where as myself … I get to focus on what it takes to be super healthy and what it takes to get everything moving forward…….People often believe they are in a constant battle to lose weight…life long for a lot of people and it does not have to be that way. It is either a constant battle or if you shift all these (limiting) beliefs (I am not worthy, I am not capable etc…) out of the way, people are pulled along in the direction they want to go rather than fighting day in and day out. … Coaching for me is about drawing out … as a coach …the role is to bring the answers out of the person we are working with rather than put all our answers in.
